Shipping is discounted by up to $8.00 through the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. This amounts to no-cost delivery for most USA and some Canadian orders, and it will cut the delivery cost of many international orders by about half. Simply type “ 8OFFSHIPPING ” into the coupon box in your shopping cart or while checking out.
Thanks to all who have already patronized our new site. We are very grateful for the interest, and look forward to adding new conferences and books in the new year.
Dear readers and patrons:
Though many of you have been “shopping” already – for which we thank you – we do want to take this opportunity to mention that we are (at long last) 100% “open for business”:
- The pesky “beta” site notice is gone. (Though we still have some work to do, e.g., past and future events.)
- After lots of live troubleshooting, with your help, we think we’ve killed most of the bugs, so that browsing and purchasing should be trouble-free. Please let us know otherwise.
- To “celebrate,” we’re offering a small token of thanks by inviting you to use this coupon – 8OFFSHIPPING – for free shipping (up to US$8.00) on any order you place on the site through the Feast of Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception (8 Dec.). (Simply put the coupon code into your shopping cart when checking out; if the shipping costs more than $8.00, the coupon will discount your shipping by that much.) It can be used once per customer, so make sure to fill up your order to maximize this benefit. Other Advent & Christmas promotions will immediately follow.
More news & offers are sure to follow. Thank you for everything you’ve done so far to make the new site a success.
Dear friends – thanks to your help we’ve managed to accomplish the following as regards post-launch website problems:
- Restored all customer accounts regrettably deleted (!) during a database error two weeks ago;
- Fixed (we hope!) format & delivery problems with the new EC e-mail template; and
- Solved a pay-by-PayPal problem some of you experienced when purchasing mp3’s.
Moreover, a batch of very tardy thank you’s have recently gone out to properly acknowledge (and document, for tax purposes) donations kindly received over the last several months. As you may imagine, we’ve been able to focus on very little besides getting this site launched and, most recently, getting the last few bugs exterminated. The support is, nevertheless, very greatly appreciated. The new site would be have been impossible without it.
Finally, we’ve attempted personally to notify every correspondent who, over the last year or so, has written to ask for one or more back-numbers of EC. As you all now likely know, every number is now available for reading on-site, or for bundling and saving or printing for reading later on.
Many followers of Bishop Williamson’s and Dr. White’s work who were unable to attend the latter’s lectures on Dickens in England on August 2–3, 2014, have asked about purchasing recordings of the conferences. As part of the launch of the Bishop’s new site, Dr. White’s lectures have also been made available. Each of his three talks is available separately, but those interested in the full set can get them here for immediate downloading, or by mail in audio CD or cassette format. The set is discounted, so customers save 10 or 20 percent off the cost of purchasing each talk individually. Each of these informative and entertaining conferences begins with one of the doctor’s “Bishop Williamson limericks.” Don’t miss them!
As part of our ongoing website development, three technical errors have been observed and are being or have been fixed: first, the deletion of some customer accounts last weekend (Oct. 17); second, the inability to download mp3’s immediately after placing and paying for an order via PayPal; third, errors with the first and second transmissions of EC 378.
In the first case, thanks to a customer from Australia, we believe that the error has been eliminated and payments processed via the site through PayPal will now go through as expected. In the second, we are in the process of notifying affected customers that their passwords have been reset. The inconvenience this will occasion is the need, at customers’ convenience, to reset passwords to those of their choosing. In the third case, our own tests suggested that the first transmission of EC 378 was somewhat of a disaster, and the recent re-transmission was clean & successful. We have heard from some readers, however, that the recent attempt to re-send EC 378 resulted in simply a blank, black email. Thanks to this feedback we have identified another programming error, that we believe we have fixed. (Would you believe that three “F’s” in the wrong place were the problem?) We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has seen this problem and who needs yet another copy of EC 378. The third time, as they say, is a charm.
We appreciate your patience & continued interest in our new site. Do bear with us, as the undertaking has been massive and plagued with a fair number of glitches and bugs, as one might expect for an endeavour of this magnitude. Please continue to let us know at admin@eleisoncomments.com or web-admin@stmarcelinitiative.com about errors you observe. The more we know about what’ wrong, the more quickly we can get it fixed.
Meanwhile, thank you for your interest in His Excellency’s work and please do continue to visit the site.
Based upon readers’ advice that EC no. 378 was very poorly formatted for some e-mail clients, we are re-transmitting it for hopefully improved reading. Thus, for Christ the King weekend, subscribers will have two EC’s in their inboxes; EC 380 will follow close upon the re-transmission of 378. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the first poor transmission, and hope that, this time around, no. 378 is legible.
